Math Run is a running game for your mind. Doc runs forward, a question appears, and the answers sit in a gate of doors ahead. Head for the right one. The sums start easy and come faster as Doc speeds up. The science: Math Run.
How do I play Math Run?
- Tap Math Run on the home screen. Your very first run starts with the Training Trail, a short lesson in the moves.
- Tap RUN.
- When a question appears, steer Doc to the door with the right answer: left, right, up (jump through the hoop) or down (slide through the tunnel).
- Between gates, dodge blocks, jump the low walls and gaps, and duck under the high bars.
On a touch screen, swipe in the direction you want. Prefer tapping? In Options, choose Tap zones: tap the left or right side to move, the top to jump and the bottom to duck.
How do I make Doc run faster?
Go the same way again once you have chosen your door. Doc dashes to the gate at triple speed, which wins you time for the road ahead.
What ends a run?
The Muddle chases you. A wrong door, running out of time at a gate, or hitting an obstacle lets it catch up. Two slips close together and it catches you. Right answers win back ground, and every 5 right answers in a row give you a Shield that saves you from your next slip.
What is the difference between a run and Practice?
RUN is a ranked run: it goes on today's Top Runners board, and the sums follow the same order for everyone. Practice goes at your own pace, adapts to you and brings back the sums you missed. It is never ranked and has no coins. Both use one of your free runs.
What is Show me?
In a Practice run, Show me lights up the right door. Free players get one Show me per Practice run; with Pro you get more. Ranked runs have no Show me.
What is Head Start?
Once 3 of your last 5 ranked runs got past world 4 (or 6, 8 or 10), the Math Run screen offers Start at world 4, 6, 8 or 10. Turn it on and your next run starts there, with the metres of the worlds you skipped counted.
How do coins, chests and Pit Stops work?
Right answers burst into coins, quick ones into more, and there are coins on the road. Every World Gate, at the end of each world, gives a chest of coins. Golden sums pay three times. Your first 3 ranked runs each day earn full coins.
At a Pit Stop, time slows and three doors offer power-ups to buy with coins: a coin magnet, double coins, slow time, an extra life and, later, the Rocket, which blasts through the next 5 sums. When the Muddle catches you, Keep running? may let you pay coins to carry on, once a run. Coins are earned only by playing: they are never sold for money. They stay on the device you earned them on.
How many runs can I play?
Free players get 3 runs on their first Math Run day, then 1 run a day; a new free run comes at midnight on your device. Math Run never uses your free workouts. With Pro, runs are unlimited.
How does Top Runners work?
Your best ranked distance of the day goes on Today's Top Runners, under your leaderboard name. The board resets at midnight UK time, with a runner of the week and yesterday's number 1. See Leaderboards.
Can I play with a keyboard?
Yes: the left and right arrows (or A and D) move, up, W or Space jump, down or S ducks, the same key again dashes, P or Esc pauses and M turns the sound on or off. In Practice, H or ? uses Show me.
Math Run says it needs 3D graphics. What now?
Math Run needs 3D graphics. If your device or browser cannot show them, try updating the browser, or play another workout; a run that cannot start uses nothing. The graphics quality is set automatically for your device, and calmer camera movement is in Options, under Calm camera.
What is the Festive look?
At some times of year, such as Christmas, Math Run dresses up with decorations and music. Only the look changes: the sums, speed and board stay the same for everyone. Tap Festive look on the Math Run screen to turn it off.
