Math Workout comes from London. In the UK it is a quick way to practise times tables and mental maths, or to do a daily puzzle with a cuppa. Rounds take a few minutes, and there is always one World Challenge that the whole world shares.

Fits what is taught at school
In England, the national curriculum for maths aims for pupils to become fluent "through varied and frequent practice". Pupils recall addition and subtraction facts to 20 and the 2, 5 and 10 times tables in Year 2, add the 3, 4 and 8 tables in Year 3, and by Year 4 recall multiplication and division facts for all tables up to 12 × 12.1
Year 4 pupils then take the Multiplication Tables Check: 25 questions, 6 seconds each, with no pass mark; its purpose is to find out whether pupils can recall their tables fluently.2 In 2024/25 the national average score was 21.0 out of 25, and 37% of eligible pupils scored full marks.3 Later on, between a third and a half of the marks in GCSE maths must be earned without a calculator.4 Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own curricula.
Times Table Master practises the kind of quick recall the check looks for: pick any tables from 2 to 15, or let it bring back the facts you find hard. Math Workout is not the check and is not endorsed by the Department for Education or the Standards and Testing Agency.
Everyday maths in the United Kingdom
Everyday maths here is pounds and pence: adding up a meal deal, checking a multibuy offer at the supermarket, or working out your change at the till. A quick total in your head means you notice when something does not add up.

The World Challenge, from the United Kingdom
World Challenge is the same 50 questions for every player on the planet each day, and the crown is decided at midnight UK time, so it is your home turf. Pupils in England learn tables to 12 × 12, further than the curricula in the United States or Australia ask,5,6 and the world board shows how quick those facts still are. Free players get one ranked run a day.
