Math Workout in the Philippines

By the end of Grade 3, MATATAG expects multiplication and division with the 6, 7, 8 and 9 tables, which include some of the trickiest. Ready?

From the sari-sari store to the jeepney, quick math is part of the day in the Philippines. Math Workout turns it into short rounds you can play in a few minutes: drills for adding and multiplying, times tables at your own pace and one World Challenge a day that the whole world shares.

Play in the Android app or in any browser, with nothing to install.

Fits what is taught at school

The Department of Education's MATATAG curriculum is being introduced in phases, starting in school year 2024-2025. By the end of Key Stage 1 (Grade 3), learners work with whole numbers up to 10 000, add and subtract up to 4 digits and money up to ₱10 000, and do "multiplication and division using 6, 7, 8 and 9 multiplication tables". The curriculum aims for fluency "through varied frequent practice and meaningful learning experiences", and it is clear that learning multiplication is more than memorizing facts: learners need the concepts behind them too.1

Math Workout's keypad rounds and Times Table Master practice the quick recall part. Method Lab adds the why, with named methods shown step by step. Math Workout is not a DepEd program and is not endorsed by DepEd; it is practice that fits alongside school.

Everyday math in the Philippines

Everyday math here is pesos and centavos: adding up an order at the sari-sari store, checking your change, or counting fares for the family on a jeepney or a tricycle. Quick totals in your head make every one of those a little game.

The World Challenge, from the Philippines

World Challenge gives every player on the planet the same 50 questions each day, with a flag beside every name on the leaderboard. Children in England learn their tables all the way to 12 × 12,2 so the world board is a friendly place to test those tricky 6s, 7s, 8s and 9s. Free players get one ranked run a day.
