Math facts, a quick total at the till, the morning coffee: Canada has plenty of small math moments. Math Workout turns them into short daily rounds for kids and adults, from adding and subtracting to times tables, a space shooter and a runner game.

Fits what is taught at school
Each province sets its own curriculum. In Ontario, the 2020 math curriculum lists math facts grade by grade: addition facts up to 10 in Grade 1 and up to 20 in Grade 2, the multiplication facts of 2, 5 and 10 in Grade 3, 1 × 1 to 10 × 10 in Grade 4, and 0 × 0 to 12 × 12, with the related division facts, in Grade 5.1
Times Table Master lets you pick any tables from 2 to 15 and brings back the facts you find hard, and the keypad rounds practise quick adding and subtracting. Math Workout is not part of any provincial curriculum and is not endorsed by a ministry of education; it is practice that fits alongside school.
Everyday math in Canada
Canada's missing penny makes for a daily mental math moment. The Royal Canadian Mint stopped circulating pennies on 4 February 2013, and cash totals are now rounded to the nearest five cents, while card payments are not rounded.2 So $7.48 paid in cash becomes $7.50, and $7.52 becomes $7.50 too. Sales tax added at checkout is another reason the shelf price is rarely what you pay.
Try an everyday sum
No pressure. Just see how it feels.

The World Challenge, from Canada
World Challenge gives every player on the planet the same 50 questions each day, with a flag beside every name on the leaderboard. Ontario students learn their facts up to 12 × 12 by Grade 5,1 the same range England asks for by Year 4,3 so the world board is a friendly test of how quick those facts still are. Free players get one ranked run a day.
