Doc is Math Workout's coach: a cheerful professor with wild hair, round glasses and a bow tie, "your brain-lab partner". He shows up at the start of each workout, after your rounds and when something new unlocks.

What does Doc do?

  • Briefings: the first time you open a workout, Doc explains it in a few lines, with a short science fact. Tap Let's begin to start.
  • Score cards: after a round he gives his verdict, from "Great Scott! A flawless run" to "every misfire is data". In the classic workouts his card also tells you which facts you strengthened and how Math Adapt AI helped.
  • A step up: after three clean rounds in a row, he offers you the next level. See Math Adapt AI.
  • Streak shouts: when you are on a roll he cheers you on, if Celebrations is on in Settings.

How do I see a workout's briefing again?

Tap the ? button (How this mode works). It is on the menus of Times Table Master, The Brain Cruncher, Mental Math Master and World Challenge, on the Galaxy Run map and on the Math Run screen. Prime Raiders has its own ? on its start screen. On a computer, every workout card on the home screen also has How it works in its menu (right-click the card).

Add & Subtract, Multiply & Divide, I'm Feeling Clever and Brain Age Check go straight to the countdown on a phone, so they have no ? button.

Why did the briefing show again?

A briefing counts as seen once you tap its button. If you went back instead, it shows again next time. Briefings are remembered on each device, so a new phone or browser shows them once more.

How do I turn on Doc's voice?

In Settings, on the Sound card, switch on Doc's voice. You then hear short spoken reactions, a word or two, at key moments. His voice is only in English, so the switch appears only when the app is in English.

Can I turn Doc off?

Not completely: Doc is part of Math Workout. His briefings stop after you have seen each one, his voice is off unless you turn it on, and switching off Celebrations in Settings stops his streak shouts.
