Updated 7 November 2026

Math Workout gets new workouts and fixes often. When a newer version is ready on your device, the home screen shows a short notice so you can choose when it starts.

What does "A new version of Math Workout is ready" mean?

A newer version of Math Workout has finished downloading and is waiting. The notice says what is new in it, under What's new, when that is known, and then: "Restart now, or it installs next time you open the app."

It has two buttons:

  • Restart now starts the new version straight away. Math Workout reloads and opens on the home screen.
  • Later closes the notice. You keep playing the version you have, and the new one starts the next time you open Math Workout.

On a keyboard, Restart now is already selected, so Enter restarts. Esc is the same as Later.

Will the notice interrupt my workout?

No. It only appears on the home screen, never during a workout or a game, and never on top of another card such as a badge you just earned. It waits for a quiet moment first.

Why do I only see it once?

Each waiting version shows the notice once. If you choose Later, it does not come back for that version, even if you reload. In the Android app, a small Update ready card under the home header stays as a reminder, with its own Restart now button.

Do I lose my progress when I restart?

No. Your progress, best times, badges and settings are saved on your device and stay as they are. Restarting only swaps the app's own files for the newer ones.

Why does the browser version rarely show it?

In a browser, Math Workout always loads its newest version when you open it online, so most of the time you are already up to date. You see the notice when a tab stayed open while an update came out, or when Math Workout started from its offline copy. If you choose Later there, the new version takes over once every Math Workout tab is closed.

How does an update download in the Android app?

The app downloads updates by itself in the background while you play. Under the home header a card shows Downloading an update with its progress, then Update ready. If a big update would use mobile data, the card asks first: it shows the size and a Download button, so you can wait for Wi-Fi instead. Updates to the app itself, from Google Play, are separate: see Updating Math Workout.

When did the notice start?

The notice arrived with the update of 6 November 2026. You see it for the first time when the next update after that one is ready on your device.
